I am a genetics and molecular biologist working with Potato and the sequenced model plant "Arabidopsis". The main focus of my research is molecular plant immunology and pathology. I am investigating which genes help protect potato varieties against the fungal-like Phytophthora infestans (Potato blight) that caused the Irish famines and the bacterial pathogen, Erwinia caratovora which causes a disease called "black-leg".
